Behind The Scenes
This is where you’ll find my blog and see how I continue to develop this cartoon.
Talk Is Cheek
In this episode, a mysterious package is delivered to DumDum and Jakass wants to find out what is going on behind closed doors. Jakass literally puts a bug into a plant, and brings it to DumDum to try and get a secret report from inside DumDum’s cave. The plan works great until DumDum unknowingly sits on the plant and smashes it and the bug. DumDum opens his long awaited delivery which is a pair of Alternate Reality Glasses with Republican Strength Distortion. Meanwhile, Jakass [...]
Run For Kindness
Run For Kindness This is a classic chase movie. The idea is that there’s an annual “Run For Kindness” to promote good behavior at the zoo. Even though they shake hands and agree to behave, DumDum and Jakass spend the entire race trying to sabotage each other and in doing so, take down almost all the other contestants. In the end, the traditional winner prevails.
Healthy Appetite For Destruction
Healthy Appetite For Destruction The idea for this story came to me during the health care drama that took place at the beginning of the Trump presidency. The hypocrisy of the Republican plan combined with the potential use of “bugs” by Democrats, were the main motivation for this movie. The story begins with DumDum opening a “free health care clinic”, to Jakass’ pleasant surprise. The [...]
Bombs A Hay
Bombs-A-Hay This was my first DumDum and Jakass video. I did it mainly to see if I could teach myself how to use the Adobe software, which is why it’s pretty short. The premise is that there is a food shortage at the zoo, as a result signs have been posted (asking the animals) to limit their consumption of hay. The shortage has not prevented Jakass from organizing an eating contest for charity, and when DumDum spies on him eating a large bail of [...]
Character Design
I was raised on Warner Bros. cartoons. When I look at my drawings, their influence is clear. This series is meant (in a way) to pay homage to those great television cartoon characters of my youth. Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote. They had personality regardless of whether they spoke or not, they were “drawn that way”. DumDum and Jakass are meant to be of that old Warner Bros. style. The sketches on this page were the first drafts [...]
